Leading the Charge for Food in Moncton (COVID-19)

The Issue

Greater Moncton, like the rest of the world, is being impacted by the spread of COVID-19 and those most impacted are our city’s low income, working poor, and homeless.  Due to restrictions on working, many people are finding themselves not able to earn an income during this time.  Although many jobs may have an option to work from home, some sectors like fast food are not able to do this for obvious reasons.  Although many companies are working to ease financial burden at this time (e.g. mortgage payment deferral), there will still be an increased demand on food bank services.

The Solution

Because everyone is practicing either quarantine or social distancing measures, we thought it would be fun to develop a game of tag online to boost morale and provide a productive distraction from the rising confirmed case counts. Thus, the #QuaranTag hasthag was born! This enables us to TAG others who may be interested in donating to the cause while we are in QUARANtine. Pretty clever, huh?

Moncton’s Legal Sector Cares

In an effort to help prepare our city’s food bank, Eunota Court Reporting has set up a fundraiser and donated $500 to the Food Depot Alimentaire. The fun part? We’ve challenged Moncton’s law firms to follow suit. The first donation was a whopping $500 from Solicitor Stephane Viola at Bosse Viola LeBlanc! Thank you!

Here is the post:

Self-isolation and quarantine during these stressful times can make us feel helpless and worried about ourselves and community’s most vulnerable. But try to remember that we are not without tools to make great change happen from our couches thanks to modern-day technology!

Eunota Court Reporting is making a $500 donation to the Food Depot Alimentaire to help ensure that they have everything they need to prepare for increased demands on their critically important service. Now it’s your turn. Everything helps!

We are challenging all law firms to follow suit and the largest donation before Tuesday, March 31st, 2020 at midnight will receive a FREE FULL DAY recording service for discovery or other with Eunota Court Reporting (valued at over $300).

Our goal is $2,500. Together, people working in the legal field can show the community just how much we care. TAG! You’re it!
